Introduction
At The Lead Nepal, our commitment to raise confident and capable individuals is at the heart of everything we do. The Lead Nepal’s Teaching for Learning project organized a “Community School Based Self-Defense Program” Our mission to organize this program is to build confidence, being self capable and empower individuals. We’re excited to share the inspiring success story of our recent self-defense program held at Bhairabsthan School. There was an active participation of 37 students including both boys and girls in a 3 hour long session. Self-defense program exemplifies our dedication to empowering the youth, especially school students with essential life skills that go beyond physical techniques.
Comprehensive Curriculum
Under the expert guidance of our experienced instructors, the participants were introduced to a comprehensive curriculum that delved into 11 fundamental self-defense techniques. Beyond the physical aspects, these techniques were thoughtfully designed to inspire the students with strategic thinking, and the unwavering belief in their own capabilities.
Immersive Learning Experience
The session was not merely theoretical but immersive and interactive. Participants engaged in hands-on training sessions, practicing the techniques under the watchful eyes of our skilled instructors. This practical approach aimed to build muscle memory and enhance their self-confidence, ensuring that the skills they learned would be readily accessible in times of need.
Creating a Safe and Inclusive Space
One of our primary goals was to create a safe and inclusive environment that encourages open learning. Alongside physical training, participants were involved in discussions that focused on personal safety, the importance of setting boundaries, and fostering mental resilience. We firmly believe that self-defense extends beyond physical confrontations; it encompasses the ability to protect one’s emotional and mental well-being.
The impact of the community school based self-defense program is resonating within the participants. The Lead Nepal remains faithful in its commitment to further initiatives that empower youth, encourage gender equality, and contribute to a safer community.
